There are three museums in downtown Oakland: The Garrett County Historical Society Museum. The newly finished Garrett County Transportation Museum and the upcoming Oakland B&O Train Station Museum. The Historical Socity Museum was established in 1969 and relocated in 1997. It is made up of eight themed rooms that take visitors from the time period of living in the wilderness into a time of commerce and growth. B&O RAILROAD MUSEUM IN BALTIMORE
The B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore continues to lend their support. The provide us with items from their gift shop, displays from their Graphic Arts Department, educational DVD's and exhibits. In addition, we receive on going expertise and advice from their staff.
